1. Introduction

Welcome to Docent. This Privacy Policy explains how Docent Labs Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Docent mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Docent is an AI-powered mobile DeFi trading assistant that enables natural language trading on decentralized exchanges and prediction markets including Hyperliquid, Polymarket, and Lighter.xyz.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our policies, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

  • Account information: name, username, email address, and bio provided during account creation or profile setup via Privy authentication.
  • User content: messages you send to the AI assistant, including trading instructions, market searches, and predictions with reasoning.

Financial Information

  • Wallet addresses: cryptocurrency wallet addresses associated with your account.
  • Trading activity: order history, positions, fills, and cross-chain transfer records across supported platforms (Hyperliquid, Polymarket, Lighter.xyz).
  • Balance information: USDC balances and other cryptocurrency holdings visible through your connected wallets.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: device model identifier, collected for push notification delivery.
  • Usage data: app interaction events, feature usage patterns, and LLM token usage, collected via PostHog analytics.
  • Diagnostics: crash reports, error logs, and performance data collected via PostHog to improve app stability.
  • Identifiers: Privy user ID and wallet addresses used to identify your account.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be transparent about what we do not collect:

  • Precise or coarse location data — we only access your timezone for display purposes.
  • Payment card information — fiat on-ramp services are handled entirely by third-party providers (OneBalance/Privy). We never access your card numbers or bank details.
  • Contacts, photos, videos, or audio — we do not request access to your contact list, camera, photo library, or microphone.
  • Health or fitness data.
  • Advertising identifiers — we do not collect advertising IDs or participate in cross-app tracking.
  • Browsing history — we do not track your activity outside of the Docent app.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process your trading instructions and execute transactions on supported platforms.
  • Power AI-assisted features including natural language trading, market analysis, and personalized suggestions.
  • Send push notifications about trade executions, market updates, and account activity.
  • Analyze usage patterns and diagnose technical issues to improve app performance and stability.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the following third-party service providers to operate the Service:

  • Privy — authentication and wallet infrastructure.
  • Convex — backend database and real-time data synchronization.
  • PostHog — first-party product analytics, crash reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI — AI language model providers that process your messages to generate responses. Messages may be sent to these providers to fulfill your requests.
  • Hyperliquid, Polymarket, and Lighter.xyz — decentralized exchanges and prediction markets where your trades are executed.
  • OneBalance — cross-chain transfer and fiat on-ramp services.
  • Expo — push notification delivery infrastructure.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Docent Labs Inc., our users, or others.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your wallet private keys are managed through Privy's secure infrastructure and are never stored on our servers in plaintext.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. We may also retain information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Trading records and transaction history may be retained for longer periods as required by applicable laws and regulations.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your information.
  • Request portability of your data.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

9. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with additional rights regarding your personal information. These include the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and sell.
  • Delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information to purposes necessary to provide the Service.

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2 above. We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app or on our website and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
